Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Plus

A major phase of the project involved transitioning the customer-facing experience from Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Plus while keeping the shopping experience visually and functionally seamless.

Behind the scenes, that meant supporting two development environments, adapting workflows in real time, and preserving promotions, merchandising systems, SEO structure, and customer flows while the infrastructure evolved underneath.

Overview

I worked on the e-commerce experience for La Senza, supporting a fast-moving retail environment centered around promotional campaigns, bundled product offers, and rapid inventory turnover.

The platform required constant updates tied to seasonal launches, marketing initiatives, and high-frequency promotions, particularly multi-item pricing strategies common within the intimate apparel market. The experience needed to remain visually cohesive while handling a large volume of products and campaign-driven merchandising.

Challenge

  • Design and develop promotional experiences for bundled offers and multi-product pricing structures.
  • Support rapid turnaround of fashion and marketing updates across a large product catalog.
  • Maintain a seamless customer experience during a major platform transition.
  • Coordinate development across distributed teams, with management based in Ohio while development operations were handled from New York.
  • Simultaneously support another major retail account with entirely different business and UX goals.

Solution

Built flexible homepage and promotional components optimized for frequent campaign rotations and merchandising updates.

Developed collection and product presentation systems that supported bundle promotions, buy more/save more offers, and seasonal featured collections.

Structured reusable front-end modules that enabled marketing teams to rapidly launch promotions with minimal development overhead.

Maintained visual consistency with La Senza's branding while balancing performance and usability across high-volume product experiences.

Platform Transition

A major phase of the project involved transitioning the customer-facing experience from Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Plus.

From the customer perspective, the transition needed to feel seamless. From a development perspective, however, it introduced significant complexity.

  • Maintain two parallel development environments during migration.
  • Learn and adapt workflows between platforms in real time.
  • Preserve functionality, SEO structure, and user experience throughout the transition.
  • Ensure continuity across promotions, merchandising systems, and customer flows while infrastructure evolved underneath the platform.

Extended Impact

Developed scalable merchandising systems capable of supporting high-frequency promotional updates.

Improved flexibility for marketing and product teams through reusable front-end structures and adaptable layouts.

Balanced competing priorities across multiple enterprise retail accounts while maintaining delivery timelines and production stability.

Expanded expertise in platform migration strategy, dual-platform maintenance, and enterprise-level e-commerce workflows.

Experience

The La Senza project strengthened my ability to operate within high-pressure retail environments where speed, adaptability, and coordination were critical.

Managing simultaneous responsibilities across multiple major retail brands while navigating a live platform migration elevated both my technical and organizational capabilities. It reinforced a full-spectrum understanding of UX, front-end engineering, merchandising systems, and the operational realities of enterprise e-commerce development.
